Click to enlarge photos of the >100 acre Monte Cristo Fire 8/10/09 in Edinburgh, Hidalgo County, Texas. This fire burned with VERY ACTIVE fire behavior through fields of tall cured grass (Fuel model GR3) before going into mostly dense live oak overstory where it stalled out. It ended up igniting an old dump on the west end. This dump will likely burn for days now despite heavy soaking both from engines and from Helitanker 719.
